This was the third Monday in a row that we had terrific walking weather. Three Bus Pass toting passengers boarded the bus at Tonbridge to Mereworth where we walked the half-mile to West Peckham to pick up the path.
The first few miles took us through fruit farms and orchards until we met the Medway where we turned right towards Tonbridge.
Hop Poles just outside East Peckham
The walk in bright sunshine along the river was very pleasant.
It wasn't long before we stopped for lunch - not at a pub but at a lock.
Reaching Tonbridge by early afternoon we took the opportunity to take on liquids because the final three miles was going to be hard.
The walk carried on through Haysden before we started the long haul up to the top of Bidborough Ridge. After the initial 12 mile walk the climb was "Challenging" to say the least.
Looking down to Tonbridge from the ridge
The walk down through Bidborough and up again into Southborough woods was the final straw and the sight of Ivan's Land Rover parked at Modest Corner couldn't come quick enough.
